I just got my rolling chassis from spirit industries and I am trying to figure out what rear end I have. I know its a GM 10 bolt, either a 7.5 or 7.625. I was able to find the code on the passenger side axle tube but cant decode it. The code was BUD C090 1. Also, There is a rubber tube sticking out of the pumpkin on the passenger side, is this just a vent or is it suppose to connect to something?
I pulled the cover off and counted the teeth (11 for the pinion gear and 44 on the ring gear.) When I did the math, it is a 3.7272..... I also tried turning the drive shaft and counting the number of wheel turns, I got 10 turns of the drive shaft gave me about 5.3 turns at the wheel, which would give me a 1.8867..... ratio. I'm guessing the correct ratio is a 3.73?
Another question I have is I dont know if this is a open rear end or limited slip. There are other things inside the carrier other then 4 spider gears and a pin. I have never seen the other stuff before, any idea what the other parts are?
I am also trying to fiure out what make and year this rear came out of so I can get break parts from any parts house. Any chance the axle code would inform me of that?
Thanks
Paul
